Gov. Scott Walker and First Lady Tonette Walker once again invite family members of Wisconsin service members to send a holiday ornament dedicated to their loved one for this year’s “Tribute to our Troops” holiday tree at the executive residence.

“We are pleased to continue this holiday tradition at the executive residence,” Gov. Walker said. “It’s important for us all to remember that many families across Wisconsin will go through the holiday season with a family member away from home because of their military service. I have had the pleasure of talking with many of these families at send-off ceremonies and homecoming celebrations, and I’ve also had the opportunity to meet some of our outstanding service members from Wisconsin serving overseas. Their love of country and their sacrifice is truly amazing, and it is fitting that we commemorate that with the Tribute to our Troops tree.”

The ornaments will be displayed on one of the large evergreen trees in the executive residence during December’s holiday season. The ornaments can be plain or fancy, as well as personalized to honor our fallen service members, those who are deployed overseas this holiday season, and all who wear the uniforms of our nation’s armed forces.

The Governor and First Lady encourage as many families as possible of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guard members to take part in decorating the trees.

“This is a simple and beautiful way for all of us to honor and remember our men and women in service,” First Lady Walker said.

To be included as part of this year’s “Tribute to our Troops” tree, ornaments must be received no later than Nov. 9 at:

Wisconsin National Guard Service Member Support Division
ATTN: Ms. Deborah Severson
2400 Wright Street
Madison, Wis., 53704

Ornaments will not be returned.

The “Tribute to our Troops” tree will be decorated Thursday, Nov. 15, but ornaments received after that date will be added to the tree. The tree can be seen during public tours held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 1, 10 a.m.-noon Dec. 8, and noon-2 p.m. Dec. 12, 13, 19, and 20.
