MADISON, Wis. — The National Guard relies on Citizen Soldiers to fulfill its dual-mission as the primary combat reserve of the Army and as the state’s first military responder in times of emergency.

Second Lt. Britney Fischer, a platoon leader in the Menomonie, Wisconsin-based Company A, 1st Battalion, 128th Infantry – part of the 32nd “Red Arrow” Infantry Brigade Combat Team, is blazing a trail as the state’s first female infantry officer.

Fischer is the subject of the latest edition of the Wisconsin National Guard’s periodic video feature – I am the Guard, which highlights service members from both the Wisconsin Army and Air National Guard why they wear the uniform.
